March 74

1. Hey guys, another hydraulic problem! J.G. 786, with Lt Cooper & Kenoin on board, get a 1st stage servo light on approach to fire pit for NRS check. Land & checki-checki

My hero roommate finally gets a save! Lt Cooper & Lt Kenoin medivac a ruptured appendicites victim from Ubon to Udorn. Save granted. Used the wing bird, Cooper! Take your National SAR manual and _____!

4. Another chocolate day to start off the week. Where have the popsicle weeks gone?? (Read the @!!;;) book)

Holy ____! Lt. Backlund and Maj Burnett have a servo out light at night. Lucky they were in the traffic pattern. Shut down, air abort. Good job Don!

5. Another great day for OPS! Two birds crump. Alert crews go down on one bird, as do returning crews. It's getting to be a good time to leave. Way to go OPS; hang in there!

9. Lt Col Kamhoot returns from leave. Welcome back

11. Not a bad start for the week - NO DISASTERS in ops - negative reply. Thanks to Sugarland and Weird, we all miss saying "Goodbye Asshole" to Ditz. Through the gate before we could get them with the Boon's Farm. HOLY ____!!! Kramer shows up early (1400) for work. Such a dedicated young officer! Due to my extremely busy schedule, I have neglected to mention our three new arrivals. Capt Buchanan, 1st LT Dube and 2nd Lt Foote arrived last week. Leutenant' 2, Capt's 1! What on earth are we gonna do with two more Huey drivers?

12. Missed a lot today - didn't come in until 1500 cause I gotta fly. No news really. Just a real gaggle on the flight tonight. NRS and A/R another good deal from ops.

17. Lt's. Assoc presents Weird with a token of our appreciation. Thanks much Wayne.

18. Maj. (Weirdy) Ogden leave for bigger and better things; namely C-141's at Travis. Sawadee to 3rd Groups answer to Ralph Nader.

19. Another Sawadee, this time to a good roommate, K. (I Hate This Fuckin Place) Kewrin, on his way HOME! Our Money Man is off to F.E. Warren and Hueys. If they only knew what they were in for - the budget never had it so good.

20. Hello, Ops? What's the story? Why send up all the guys who are current in A/R to hit the tank, and leave the rest at home? Oh, I see, that's the way we did it in SAC! But what about all the co-pilots who need their currency? You realize the quarter is coming to and end, and if we're not careful, we'll only have one (1) qualifed co-pilot? Oh, there's another tank tomorrow? Well what if either crumps? You know they have a habit of doing that lately! Yes, Irealize SAC was pretty reliable, but ___. Yeah, Erle, Chan and Max can give checkrides; however, that's a lot of checkrides, and ___ No sweat, huh? Yes, that's right, "ours is not to question why etc". Another good deal from Ops. What do you say about that, Erle? My pen won't write it!!

27. God, more Huey pukes! Capt Koch and 1st Lt Bevis arrive from Malmstrom or some other ungodly place. Welcome to Summer Boys Camp - you never had it so good in Hueys. (Believe this or not, but Stendahl just passed his AC checkride. I don't believe it.)

6. The 40th's Daytime Hootch Monitor Griffin, leaves a week early for emergency at home. Nothing to serious, fortunatly. Good luck in the Mini-buff at McClellan.

11. Wormi Hunter 01, Dietz, leaves for home and McClellan. So long coach - the original Lt's Association seems to be dwindling - four down, four to go.

20-24. Mission to Mekong near (name unreadable) to recover body of laotion t-28 pilot in the river.
