  1. Base was on a general recall at about 1800L and subsequently put under yellow alert. Returned to Ops Normal by Sunday morning.
  2. Medevac - Result of HH-53 accident which occurred at 1330 on Jolly Green parking ramp. Aircraft struck A-Frame work tower w/blade tips which released blade weights & other chunks of metal. Weights struck marshaller directly ahead of aircraft plus three other 40th aircraft. Victim was a maintenance man assigned to 40th TDY from Hill AFB. Jolly Green 53 was deployed to medevac the patient to Udorn. Jolly Green 53 departed at 1500 and arrived Udorn at 1545. Patient was off-loaded and J.G. 53 RTB. Report received at 1930 that patient was out of surgery and in good condition. Crew of Jolly Green 53 were:

Sgt. Parker - Pararescue

Sgt. Carpenter - Pararescue

  1. As a result of the accident last Sunday an investigation has been iniated. Col Downing, Vice-Commander 41st ARRWg, arrived last night. Capt Lewis, scheduled to arrive tomorrow night, is to head the investigation.
  2. Lt Col McMonigle, new commander, arrives.
  1. Change of Command ceremony at 1500 Commanders Call. Lt Col Kamhoot relinquished command of the 40th Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Squadron to Lt Col McMonigle. - then that night Kamhoot took a barrage of hits for many alleged and factual instances of malfeasance, ineptitude, and pervision. "Barry's Banana Bandits" brought in a dandy tree as at least 15 souls were painted.
  2. Lt. Cooper (USCG) is glad to get out of the Air Force and return to "the real rescue outfit" at a Coast Guard station at Cape Cod Mass.
  3. Lt. McCormack (USCG) leaves for U.S. & St. Petersburg, Fla. AMF.
