Whittaker DEROS's for Hickam.
- Gen.
Saunders, Commander of ARRS, arrived today. Preparations
were extravagant - 4' Green Feet on ramp & his ass
was traditionally painted at a pig roast party Tuesday
night. The General in turn, painted several pooying asses
as well as participating in cutting down banana trees. In
the Generals honor, a banana tree garden has been planted
on the vollyball court at the hootch. Wing Commander
showed up & has his notnoy ass painted, ate some pig
& left early ("say goodnight to the
Colonel").
- Actual
scramble out of Ubon. F-4 crashed & burned 60 miles
west of Korat. J.G. 60 & J.G. 30 sent from Ubon to
assist in SAR. Alpha man picked up by Korat's Pedro.
Search for Bravo man resulted negative until 13 Nov when
his remains were found in wreckage. J.G. 60 RTB (Ubon)
& J.G. 30 broke at Korat. Two more A/C deployed to
Korat from NKP to aid early morning search - both broke
by nightfall.
- Lt.
Rudy L. on deploy to Ubon was victim of Fickle Finger of
Fate. His A/C, L/C Kinney declared a precautionary upon
loss of 2nd Stage. Rudy had
turned it off thinking it was the searchlight switch. L/C
Kinney's immeasurable aviator's prowess saved a valuable
airplane from immenent destruction. He was only 15' off
the ground at the time.

Buck finds out he's going to rated supp to Scott AFB
working with Kamhoot. Beano is going to Malmstrom.
- &
21. T2 shows up for work 2 days in a row.
- Who
wants to fly with "Servo Joe"? Capt Gilbert,
notorious for turning off servos, has come to the 40th
from H-3's in Iceland.
- After
today Buck needs 15 minutes flying time for 2000 hrs
total. Nice going.
- Lt.
Wolfe & family Sawadee (formation paint). They leave
tomorrow.
- Lt.
Budge found out tonight the Thai Restuarent @ Ubon is
also pretty good massage palor.
- Spontaneous
celebration for "who knows what" happened
today. Several souls had their shit blown away again
tonight. Capt. Buchanan managed to mangle his body again
as this time he was hanging from rafters over walkway B/N
hootch bar and hooch. He was performing aerobatics when
he slipped into a 90 degree uncoordinated turn, went
inverted and crashed. Cause of accident: Pilot Error.
Contributing factors: Pilot apperently underwent spatial
disorientation as subsequent purging of internal fluid
lines revealed Boones Farm had replaced normal flight
control hydraulics.
- Beach
area completed outside hooch bar. Facilities include
"shade" trees, lifeguard stand, swimming pool,
sun sortie racks and 40 lb wind indicator which doubled
as life preserver.
- Medevac
Patient was involved in a jeep accident at Ubon. Crews of
J.G. 52 was alerted at 0100 with word to standby for
possible medevac. J.G. 52 departed 0226 for Udorn/
arrived VTUD @ 0405. Patient was given IV by PJ's
enroute. Credited as save.
