1. Hooch bar survives the torrents. The sun is shining, perhaps the front has past. Or …. Could this be the eye of the storm?
Sawadee to Budge & Bevis. It was the eye!! Hooch is under water again. Past 2 nights have been Buchanan's last drunks at NKP. 1st Shirt Lane totally shit-faced tonight. He trips & falls in the Klong once and twice off the boardwalk. Salvage WAF's tires take hits tonight.
2. Buck's big day. Bloody Mary breakfast, presented with "Buchanan Memorial Bar
Stool" and off to aerial port. Gets another paint job in the van while awaiting the
samlar. A green footprint on the stomach & one for each cheek. Festivities are not
over yet, however. L/C McMonigle hears someone murmur, "No balls if we don't put a
green footprint on the samlar." Mac's on his way in the SOF truck, with a photog
even. After a little convincing the dastardly deed is done.
Mac is not satisfied with one print, however. He returns to the flight line 15 minuts later and puts one on #4 & #3 engines plus another on the fuselage (four prints altogether). He is promptly halted by Security Police, who threaten him with "Going to Jail." Final outcome was "You will remove all footprints." Security Police are on the 40th's Black List.
4. Perdo's are N/A. They're all being relocated. Jolly's pick up LBR alert with one aircraft plus crew cocked on alert.
7. Col Mac & Blcaklund fly down to PP on AF C-130 flown by civilians to check out situation. Return to NKP and brief aircrews.
8. Newland & Vallimont promoted out of Butter Bar status. "Below the Zone" as it were.
19. Blacklund hits 1000 hours total flying time.
20. Pedro 60 & 61 depart for Udorn. Pilots were Lt. Roesch, Capt Whitehead, Lt Wetzel and Maj "Buffy" Bayer. This is a rather insigificant entry, but so far it's the big event of the day. - Maybe Pedro (the dog) will get caught taking a shit later on.
22. Sawadee @ O-club for Capt. Koch, 1Lt Foote & Maj. "Buffy" Bayer. Patio Bar takes a hit or two later as the biggest banana trees ever are erected on the dance floor. Jollys decide it's time to paint some butts so why not on the dance floor. Maj. Harper (Sec. Police and chief resident asshole) says "Disapproved." Jollys pick up their banana trees and head down to the hootch bar. A lot of Jollys may be turning in club cards shortly.
24. Last Ubon alert crews head south today for 6 days. Next Saturday we start pulling alert at Korat. Fuck me to tears. It's about time, maybe we can get some good food now.
Looks like this "Step on the Jollys" week. 56th SOW has just decided to take away our high rent barracks. Single rooms will be NA. Also there's a nast rumor that alcoholic beverages will not be consumed in hootch bars, or should I say "Dayrooms", nor will they be stored or consumed in your own personal room. Col. Goodall, 56th SOW CC, says he will not be our "moral custodian." BULLSHIT!!
