August 75

13. I have been "given" this job - Now, I have enough additional duties to keep me busy 24 hours a day. Sure hope my flying doesn't interfer with them. Gorch! This Saturday 16 Aug is Gilbert's Sawadee. We know him by his real name, Servo Joe!

16. Servo'c Sawadee was a blast - it was preceded by free food and ended at 0200 with free food. The hootch bar made $80 in drinks.

A well done to Greer and Brown; Cooper and newbie Bouche for their scramble early Saturday morning. The "Coop" and Bouche from NKP - while Greer and Brown flew out of Korat. Both birds evidentually landed at U-Tapao and conducted a SAR 350 miles out to sea. Greer rescued the pilot from a Thai fishing village after a Thai fishing boat picked up the U-2 pilot 45 miles out! Pictures will be taken before Brown goes on leave.

19. You know thoses fat rollie pollie FM's that have green wandering around lately with nothing but a smile to pass the time of day? The same ones that have set up residence in the officers hootch bar - yes - none but Thurow, Willingham, "Jack", "Belly Dancer" Bounds and Brown. Well, those examples of fighting men have sobered up, thrown their cold towels away, donned PT gear - and have started a PT program! HA! HA! How long will this last?

27. Maj Gen Saunders presented numerous medals to the 40 ARRSq on this date. These awards were given in conjunction with the Mayaguez incident on 15 May 75. Gen Saunders handed out eight Silver Stars; sisteen Distinguished Flying Crosses; and three Air Medals. The 40th appreciates the awards, but still is not receiving the recognition it deserves!

"Labor Weekend" found the Jolly's hootch bar in a shambles. The booze never stopped flowing; the music never ended; and Comer (G. vanWormherdder) never stopped throwing-up. Weikel was quoted, "No wonder be barfed, his stomach was full of vomit!"

"Buford" Puser and "Conway" Greenlee got more liquor on themselves (and others) than they managed to get into them.
