Mission: Sea Bat 700
Date: 9 & 11 October 1967
Aircraft: USN E-1B
JTF-FA would like to locate crewmembers of JOLLY GREEN 26 and any Navy personnel who were aboard JG-26 when it participated in the SAR effort for SEA BAT 700 on 9 and 11 October 1967 near Danang. SEA BAT 700 was a Navy E-1B with five persons onboard that was on a flight from Chu Lai to Danang on 8 October 1967. The Danang area was on Typhoon condition one when the aircraft disappeared from radar northwest of the base. On 9 October, JG-26 located the wreckage of the aircraft 13 miles Northwest of Danang on a 60 degree slope in an inaccessible area. On 11 October, JG-26 reportedly again hovered over the crash site, with at least one Navy officer, Lt Cole, onboard. The remains of the five crewmembers were not recovered and they are among our 2090 unaccounted for individuals in Southeast Asia. Thus far, JTF-FA teams have been unable to locate the crash site of SEA BAT 700 and it is hoped the crew of JG-26 can provide us with a description of the terrain at the site, or even photographs of the crash site. If you were aboard JG-26 or have any information concerning the loss of SEA BAT 700
