Retired Brig. General Glenn Ray Sullivan passed away Thursday, Jan. 29, 1998, after a courageous battle with cancer.

He was born June 5, 1923, in McCaysville, Georgia. He entered military service in 1942 and after a distinguished military career, including 7,600 hours of flying time, he retired in August 1974 as Commander, Aerospace Rescue and Recovery Service at Scott Air Force Base, Illinois.

He has resided in Fort Walton Beach, Florida since 1975, where he served as director of the United Way of Okaloosa County for many years and recently enjoyed volunteer instructing at Okaloosa County Applied Technology Center.

His passing leaves a great void in the lives of his wife of nearly 52 years, Nadine, and his son, Ray, and daughter-in-law, Elizabeth. He is also survived by his mother, Minnie N.Sullivan, and sister, Oberia, of McCaysville, Georgia; and his loving sister, Jo Beaube, and brother-in-law, George, of Mentone, Alabama.

True nobility comes of the gentle heart.

His last flight will be memorialized in a service at the Hurlburt Field Chapel on Saturday, February 7, 1998, at 1:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, tributes in his name may be made to:
